Here's a Helm steering luber that R. Henry made up. 
1. Remove the 4 -- 7/16" nuts and bolts holding one of the 2 rack steering cable assemblies from the helm steering unit. (tools needed: open end 7/16" wrench and a 1/4" drive ratchet with a shallow 7/16 socket) 

2. Turn the steering wheel so that you can see the end of the steering cable shaft in the end of the rack assemble. Remove the cotter pin, plastic castle nut and the 2 -- 7/16" nuts from the end of the steering cable shaft inside of the rack assemble.

3. Unscrew the rack assemble from the steering cable and remove any grease on the steering cable.

4. Slide the steering lubber up the steering cable to the threads of the cable and tighten the luber's hose to the cable with 2 hose clamps. Place some clean shop towel under the steering helm incase of any oil drips. (I had no drip problems from the connections under the helm.)

5. Route the other end of the luber through the front deck access lid on the 2003 or to an easily accessible area for other models. 

6. At the motor end: Remove the zerk fittings from the steering cable tubes and remove the 9/16 nut holding the steering arm to the steering cable end you are about to lube.

7. At the motor end: Place some shop towels around both ends of the steering cable your about to lube, around the hole for the zerk fittings you removed from the cable tubes and on the floor under the jackplate along with a large catch pan to retain all the oil and grease you blow out of the steering system. 

8. Place some shop towels around the area of the luber's air pressure and filling tube. ( I had a few small leaks of oil here during filling the luber but the rags caught the run off oil)

9. Fill the Luber with your choice of light weight oil (Dextron II, WD 40, ect.) I used about 24 oz WD40 per steering cable ( A gallon of WD can be bought at Home Depot for ~$10) Then I pressurized the system with 90-120 PSI of air and intermittently worked the cable I was presently lubing back and forth by hand to facilitate an adequate lubing. 

10. After the WD40, I flushed the WD 40 out with about 24 oz of Dextron II using the same method as above in step #9. After all the Dextron II was flushed through the cables, I continued to pressurize the steering cable with the same air pressure for ~ 10 min and manually moved the steering cable back and forth to remove any excess oil in the steering cable.

11. At the motor: Reconnect the steering arm to the steering cable with the 9/16" nut.

12. At the helm: Remove the luber from the steering cable and remove the excess oil, clean and lube the rack assemble (gear and slide if necessary), reconnect the rack assemble to the steering cable, replace the 2 -- 7/16 nuts, plastic castle nut and cotter pin in the end of the steering cable, and re-secure the cable rack assemble to the steering helm.

13. Repeat step 1-12 to the other steering cable rack assemble.

14. At the motor end: Coat the exposed steering cables with a quality marine grease like Mercs 2-4-C, wipe off the excess and clean up. 

COMPONENTS OF THE HELM LUBER:
* 6' of 1/2"ID reinforced clear tubing (rated for >100+PSI)
* 4 small hose clamps (2 for each hose connection)
* 1 -- T-fitting with 3/4" pipe threads
* 1 -- 1/2"male hose fitting with 3/4" pipe threads
* 1 -- bushing with 3/4" male threads to mate the T-fitting to a male air quick
disconnect.
* 1 -- male quick disconnect for an air compressor
* 1 -- PVC 3/4" bushing with a 3/4" cap for the oil filler.
